LIFTS TO LA SPEZIA CASTLE AND LIFT TO LERICI CASTLE

THE MUNICIPALITY OF LA SPEZIA HAS CREATED A PUBLIC CONNECTION BETWEEN VIA INDIPENDENZA AND SAN GIORGIO CASTLE BY MEANS OF TWO FREE LIFTS controlled by ATC Esercizio.

The vertical first lift departs from Via Indipendenza ( next to Via del Prione and MyHotel) and stops in Via XX Settembre, one level below the Castle.

The inclined second lift departs from Via XX Settembre and reaches the Castle in Via XXVII Marzo ( just in front of the entrance of the Museum of San Giorgio Castle).

This connection between the city centre and Via XXVII Marzo allows the citizens of La Spezia and tourists alike to reach more easily the Museum.

Opening hours:

Wintertime ( dal 1° ottobre al 31 maggio):
feriale dalle ore 7.00 alle ore 20.30;
festivo dalle ore 9.00 alle ore 20.30.

Summertime ( dal 1° Giugno al 31 Agosto):
feriale dalle ore 7.00 alle ore 24.00;
festivo dalle ore 8.30 alle ore 24.00.

Summertime ( dal 1° Settembre al 30 Settembre):
feriale dalle ore 7.00 alle ore 21.30;
festivo dalle ore 8.30 alle ore 21.30.

A beautiful statue by Elisa Corsini, called “ Chimera”, enriches the site.

A system of security cameras inside and outside the lifts is directly connected to ATC Esercizio control-room.
Passengers can communicate directly with the control-room in case of emergency.

LIFT COMUNE DI LERICI

In Lerici, a public vertical lift is in operation, connecting Calata Mazzini with Piazza San Giorgio – Lerici Castle.

Opening hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM.
The service is free of charge.

The facility consists of a lower station located inside the San Giorgio Tunnel and an upper station located in Piazza San Giorgio. The lift operates within a vertical shaft along rigid guide rails, with a travel distance of 25 meters and cable traction.
